In 2024, Romania's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 12.8% compared to 2023, reaching 27.9%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 21.0%.

Romania ranks 2nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 22.7% (from 36.1% in 2019).
