Share of energy from renewable sources

In 2021, Romania's share of energy from renewable sources decreased by 1.6% compared to 2020, reaching 42.7%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 37.8%.

Romania ranks 9th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 0.1% (from 42.7% in 2016).
