Persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex

In 2025, Portugal's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 5.6% compared to 2024, reaching 18.6%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 20.9%.

Portugal ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 7.0% (from 20.0% in 2020).
